Solution
Museum exhibit control that staff can reset from a dashboard
Start museum exhibits from sensors and buttons, power galleries on a schedule, and reset any exhibit remotely. Exhibit AV control with the RELO IO8 and Horizon.
Visitor in, show starts
A PIR sensor or a push button on an input starts the exhibit: display power on a relay, play on the media server over HTTP. A Limit node and a stored variable make sure a group of visitors starts it once, and nothing queues up behind them.
Galleries that open and close themselves
Schedules power the displays, projectors and audio up before opening and down after closing. Because the logic runs on each controller, a gallery keeps working if the building network has a bad day.
With Cueva Horizon, staff see every exhibit's controller on one dashboard, and a webhook from any system on the network resets a stuck exhibit without a walk across the building.
- PIR sensors and buttons on the eight inputs
- Display and amplifier power through relays and contactors
- Media servers and players over HTTP, TCP, UDP and OSC
- Lighting scenes over Art-Net
A staff panel for the gallery (coming soon)
Cueva Interface Builder will put the gallery on a tablet: start, stop and reset each exhibit, with live feedback on what is running. Controls can sit behind a PIN so a curious visitor cannot switch the gallery off.
Wiring schedule
Museum exhibit, port by port.
A visitor walks up and the exhibit starts. It will not restart halfway through, and staff can reset it from a webhook or a button.
| Port | Connected to | Behaviour |
|---|---|---|
| Input 1 | PIR sensor | Dry contact, debounced |
| Relay 1 | Display power contactor | Toggle |
| HTTP | Media server | POST /play |
Questions
Common questions.
Yes. Flows run on each controller. The network is only needed to talk to networked devices and for remote monitoring.
With a webhook from another system, or a staff button on an input. The reset clears the lock variable and the exhibit is ready for the next visitor.
One RELO IO8 has eight inputs and eight relays, and it can send network commands to any number of devices. Small exhibits often share a controller; large ones get their own.
Start with one. Scale when you need to.
